It is unclear if Raymond Domenech is on the shortlist to coach Algeria The Algeria Football Federation (FAF) has a shortlist of five candidates to coach the Desert Foxes.
However, the organisation has not named the men who are being considered and so it is not clear if former France coach Raymond Domenech is in contention.
The FAF said it looked at 43 possible coaches and added it will still consider any applications received before the 20 June deadline.
Talks with the five shortlisted so far will begin in the next few days.
Algeria are looking to replace Abdelhak Benchikha, who stepped down after a 4-0 loss to Morocco earlier this month in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Yesterday Domenech's advisors, the Laminak Conseil agency, stated that the coach had been contacted by the FAF.
"Domenech has indeed been approached over the possibility of his being taken on by the Algerian federation," the statement read.
"He has not bid for the job. However, Raymond Domenech confirms his affection for Algeria."
Former Ivory Coast boss Vahid Halilhodzic says he is also a candidate for the post and will be meeting the FAF president Mohamed Raouraoua on Friday.
Algeria hope to have the new coach in place by the time they travel to face Tanzania in their next Nations Cup qualifier in September.
The loss to Morocco left the Desert Foxes bottom of Group D.
